Market Entry
Guyana Market Entry and Investment Support
On-the-ground support for foreign companies and investors entering Guyana — entity setup, regulatory orientation, local partnerships and the operational foundations to execute successfully.
Guyana is one of the world’s fastest-growing economies, and international companies across energy services, construction, agriculture, logistics and technology are evaluating entry. The opportunity is real — but so are the practical questions: structure, registration, local content, tax, banking, staffing and finding trustworthy local partners.
AAGENS is a Georgetown-based consultancy that helps foreign companies and investors move from evaluation to operation: honest market perspective, coordinated setup and the back-office support to run locally without building everything yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a foreign company own 100% of a business in Guyana?
In most sectors, yes — Guyana’s Investment Act provides for equal treatment of foreign and domestic investors, and full foreign ownership is generally permitted. Sector-specific rules apply in areas such as petroleum services, where the Local Content Act reserves certain activities for Guyanese companies or requires partnerships.
Should we incorporate locally or register as an external company?
Both routes are available. Local incorporation creates a Guyanese subsidiary; external company registration lets an existing foreign company operate in Guyana directly. Tax treatment, local content positioning and contracting expectations differ — the right choice depends on your sector and plans.
What is the Local Content Act and does it affect us?
The Local Content Act 2021 requires companies in the petroleum sector and their contractors to procure defined percentages of goods and services from Guyanese companies and to register with the Local Content Secretariat. If you sell into the oil and gas supply chain, it almost certainly affects how you should structure and partner.
Do you provide legal or tax opinions?
No. AAGENS provides consultancy, coordination and operational support. For formal legal and tax opinions we work alongside Guyanese attorneys and tax professionals, and we help you engage the right ones.
